A declaration of cooperation to strengthen personal data protection

The CNIL (National Commission for Information Technology and Civil Liberties) South Korea’s Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC) signed a cooperation agreement on October 26, 2022, in Istanbul. This agreement will help address challenges related to personal data protection across all aspects of life for French and South Korean citizens. 

Dr. Haksoo KO, President of the Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC), and Marie-Laure DENIS, President of the CNIL (National Commission for Information Technology and Civil Liberties) , signed a cooperation agreement that provides for: 

  • conducting joint research into new technologies and data protection issues;
  • sharing best practices and experiences, including in the context of their investigations;
  • organizing training workshops;
  • the exchange of agents between the two authorities.

This agreement marks the beginning of a new chapter of constructive and productive cooperation between the PIPC and the CNIL (National Commission for Information Technology and Civil Liberties). We look forward to working together on joint research projects, exchanging best practices, and sharing our experiences.
